If I’m being completely honest, I had no idea what to expect from Canberra. Most journos that had visited seemed to think very poorly of this Australian capital calling it dull or drab in comparison to the action packed and might I say highly more advertised Sydney or Melbourne. Thankfully I’m the sort of person who liked the destination to speak to me and surprise me and oh my god did Canberra surprise me ! I’d go as far as to say it delighted me and my only regret is that I didn’t have enough time to do justice to…

When you think of Australia several images come to mind. The great Sydney Opera House or the Great Barrier Reef, but for me, the first thing I think is Koalas. Australia as a country is home to some pretty unique wildlife and these adorable furry creatures are one of them. They’re not actually part of the bear family and they are actually just named Koalas but the resemblance has over the years christened them Koala bears. Most of these Koalas are usually found in wildlife sanctuaries or parks where you can visit them and even pose for a photo op.…

When folks talk about Australia or plan their travels, they always seem to revolve around Melbourne or Sydney and the rest tends to take a back seat. I had the sheer pleasure of exploring two cities in Queensland and had the time of my life. Great food, lovely people and just one of the prettier parts of the country in my opinion. This is the first time I’ve jotted down an entire day by day itinerary including the places I stayed at, where I dined and what I did for a week. I hope you enjoy this and it turns…

I remember being rather upbeat for a 4 am pick up having barely slept the night before. I could hardly contain my excitement and kept grinning to myself like an idiotic person as I walked through a rather deserted hotel lobby since no person in their right mind would want to be up at this unearthly hour. What can I say ? To experience something magical, you need to really go the distance so if I had to forfeit my supremely comfortable bed to hop into a van full of strangers and drive out into the unknown for my very…

People often ask me which are my favourite food destinations and always seem surprised when I say Australia. The country has plenty to offer but it is their exceptional flavours, creativity on a plate and abundance of great produce that makes it a favourite. Truth be told, this is the home for the popular TV show Masterchef Australia that has honestly changed the way India eats and appreciates food. The last time I was in Australia was a whirlwind trip to Sydney but this time around I managed to get a real sense of what Queensland has to offer. I…

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities to visit. It is also one of South Africa’s most popular and vibrant cities and attracts tourists and travelers alike. Cape Town offers plenty  in terms of scenic views, the waterfront, majestic sights and exquisite food. If I had to pick my very favourite city in South Africa, I’d have to choose Cape Town solely because there is plenty to do and keep yourself occupied and its so pretty it just seem very unlike a commercial city. I spent about three days in Cape Town and I think I fell in…

Summer’s here ! Well atleast for us folks in India. The heat is intense and thanks to global warming, it’s about to get a hotter. Schools are closed for a good two months and even if you’re not planning your vacation time around kids schedule, it’s still a great idea to take a break and jet off somewhere else. Most people get lazy and tend to flock to Goa which personally if you ask me is great as a destination but a tiny bit over rated. I decided to give you a quick glance at a few places I think…

While Sydney is an absolutely gorgeous city, New South Wales is great state to visit. As is the case with most countries, you always end up visiting major cities but forget that there are so many places close by that are worth a day trip or even longer. I visited Australia in the dead of winter. Not the most popular time to visit because people want to spend their summers lazing at the beach but I found it to be one of the prettiest times of the year to visit. Along with enjoying Sydney I went out and spent a…

Everybody talks about how Australia is a treasure trove for food enthusiasts. People talk highly of their local seafood, they ability to get almost every cuisine right and all their fresh produce. Two days in Sydney which I’m told is home to some exquisite restaurants ( some which I had the pleasure and privilege of dining at ) and two days in the country gave me a taste of Australia’s culinary brilliance and I thought it only fair to share some of these. This post isn’t about a great review into each because lets be honest, it is all fabulous…

Australia has been one of the many destinations on my never ending wish list of places to visit. I can finally tick it off the list as ai just got back from a whirlwind trip to Sydney  and New South Wales. I think I just about scratched the surface with this trip and it’s only left me hungry for more. Everything you hear and see is true.. the sights are stunning, the food is a dream, I mean absolute magic and the people are wonderful. I had a very quick trip but I did manage to snag two says in…
