I’ve been a big fan of Restaurant Week India which to me is one of the most interesting endeavours in the food industry in India. This five year old property encourages people to dine at some of the best restaurants in the city and enjoy a fixed coursed meal at a fixed ( much more affordable ) price. So you can pick a gorgeous restaurant in a 5 star hotel and end up paying half of what you would on a normal day. I think its absolutely genius and most importantly wonderful because it really encourages folks to ditch the…

I haven’t been to Pune in ages and this weekend was a breath of fresh air. I popped into the city for a quick weekend getaway with my sister and for the most part lounged around in our gorgeous hotel the Hyatt Regency Pune. You can’t blame us, it’s ferociously hot outside with the temperature crawling up to 40 degrees so besides a very successful shopping trip and the mall next door, we pretty much ate at the hotel and stayed indoors like little princesses. Since I hadn’t been to Pune in ages, a city I’m extremely familiar with and…

It’s been a crazy week and a half where I’ve had more meals outside than at home. A really good friend was in town which meant frequent lunch and dinner dates, new restaurants were opening all over, I received a much anticipated dinner party invitation and a rather intriguing one I couldn’t turn down. In fact for some reason or the other it’s been a week of great indulgence and things that I just didn’t have the heart to say no to. This time I thought instead of writing long winding posts about each ( because they are all worth…

The last time I had a really memorable meal was at Salt Water Café in Bandra. It was memorable for so many reasons. I was dining with an old college friend, coincidently the first person I ever spoke to in college, a fantabulous long lazy lunch that stretched into four glorious hours of eating  and also because we picked a lovely spot on their terrace later to enjoy our dessert.  In fact everytime I’ve dined at Salt Water Café since, I think of him and the hours spent indulging and enjoying food. For me, the best dining companion is one…

My blog is my personal expression and a window into my food world. Instead of a restaurant review this time I thought I’d list a couple of places in different cities or towns which I personally think are MUST visit joints. I know I’m going to get feedback with everyone suggesting different places and maybe even veto-ing what I’ve listed but these are Tiny’s top noteworthy picks at the moment. I decided to start with Pune, and I’m aware that there are a lot of other places as well but I think this sums it up because they are not…

Until recently the German Bakery was an integral part of Pune city. A prominent cafe and local hot spot for kids and adults alike, German Bakery was a very popular choice. Unfortunately, in 2010 it was the target of a heinous bomblast that shook the city and not only drew a cloud of doom  over the city but destroyed a very happy place which most people loved. Since then of course there have been dozens of cafes and coffee shops and it seemed like the city has enough to offer its locals and even touristy visitors. However those who’ve spent time…
