Travelling is such a joy. I enjoy every single aspect of it, even the not so flattering ones. The flight to my destination isn’t always easy. Sometimes they’re long, at odd hours or terribly turbulent but when you fly Srilankan Airlines, my god are you in for a treat! I flew on Sri Lankan Airlines for a very exciting week in China and the first thing I did on my return was become a member of One World alliance. Needless to say, I really did enjoy my flights so these are my Top 7 reasons to fly Srilankan Airlines. Why…

I’m a firm believer in taking a break from the usual and mundane. Sadly not everyone has the time or luxury of hopping on an airplane and whisking off to an exotic location. Sometimes, a gorgeous car ride in the pouring rain to a nearby city and checking into a beautiful hotel does the trick. Mid July is a great time to escape so when the JW Marriott Pune graciously extended an invitation to come relax  and unwind, I just couldn’t refuse. I’ve been travelling to Pune often but this is the first time I ended up visiting the hotel.…

Most of the time when I write about food, it’s usually a single restaurant that I thought was so good that I needed to talk about it so that other people can enjoy the experience. I’ve been writing recommendations on this site for over 5 years and very rarely have I come across a hotel where I think all their restaurants are worth boasting about. In most cases, one clearly outshines the rest but over the couple of days I spent lounging at the JW Marriott Pune I realised there wasn’t a single meal eaten that I wasn’t gushing over.…

There was a time when driving for a couple of hours or road trips were exciting but I find them losing their appeal. Maybe it’s a sign that I’m not as patient as I once use to be. After a rather turbulent flight in a plane far smaller than usual, a 3 hour drive to my hotel seemed more stressful than ever. Thankfully I had lovely company and the light at the end of this supposedly long tunnel was the gorgeous jungle of Bandhavgarh. For someone who is the truest definition of a city slicker, I’m amazed at my deep…

When you think of Australia several images come to mind. The great Sydney Opera House or the Great Barrier Reef, but for me, the first thing I think is Koalas. Australia as a country is home to some pretty unique wildlife and these adorable furry creatures are one of them. They’re not actually part of the bear family and they are actually just named Koalas but the resemblance has over the years christened them Koala bears. Most of these Koalas are usually found in wildlife sanctuaries or parks where you can visit them and even pose for a photo op.…

Travelers often categorize themselves as either a beach person or a mountain person. While both hold a great appeal, I’d call myself a jungle person. Going on safari in any part of the world gives me more pleasure than frolicking on any beach or waking up to any spectacular mountainous views. My first trip to the jungle in Madhya Pradesh made such an impact that it ended up being my favourite type of travel. The biggest advantage is that India has so many different national parks, each gorgeous in its own way and full of some incredible wildlife. It is…

The promise of a relatively short drive seemed exceedingly hollow as we drove up and down winding mountains meandering through aggressive truck drivers in search of a temple that held great mythological significance. Day one of my trip to Mussoorie to explore the Garhwal region was full of promise and excitement and despite the long but breathtakingly gorgeous drive, I felt more curious than anything else. I’m not a Hindu and most of the mythology is unfamiliar to me except for the bits I learn in school so when I do get an opportunity to visit temples or shrines with…

When folks talk about Australia or plan their travels, they always seem to revolve around Melbourne or Sydney and the rest tends to take a back seat. I had the sheer pleasure of exploring two cities in Queensland and had the time of my life. Great food, lovely people and just one of the prettier parts of the country in my opinion. This is the first time I’ve jotted down an entire day by day itinerary including the places I stayed at, where I dined and what I did for a week. I hope you enjoy this and it turns…

I remember driving up to Mussoorie and passing the main square that was thronged by a particular breed of crass and annoyingly loud selfie stick wielding tourists thinking this trip was going to be the death of me. It’s only as I drove through the gates of the Marriott and sank into my extraordinarily comfortable bed that I thought maybe Musoorie could redeem itself. The funny thing about service is that it either makes or breaks your experience and the next 4 days were soaked in memorable experiences thanks to a dedicated and wonderful team at a hotel that went…

People often ask me which are my favourite food destinations and always seem surprised when I say Australia. The country has plenty to offer but it is their exceptional flavours, creativity on a plate and abundance of great produce that makes it a favourite. Truth be told, this is the home for the popular TV show Masterchef Australia that has honestly changed the way India eats and appreciates food. The last time I was in Australia was a whirlwind trip to Sydney but this time around I managed to get a real sense of what Queensland has to offer. I…
