I haven’t been to Pune in ages and this weekend was a breath of fresh air. I popped into the city for a quick weekend getaway with my sister and for the most part lounged around in our gorgeous hotel the Hyatt Regency Pune. You can’t blame us, it’s ferociously hot outside with the temperature crawling up to 40 degrees so besides a very successful shopping trip and the mall next door, we pretty much ate at the hotel and stayed indoors like little princesses. Since I hadn’t been to Pune in ages, a city I’m extremely familiar with and…

Everybody talks about how Australia is a treasure trove for food enthusiasts. People talk highly of their local seafood, they ability to get almost every cuisine right and all their fresh produce. Two days in Sydney which I’m told is home to some exquisite restaurants ( some which I had the pleasure and privilege of dining at ) and two days in the country gave me a taste of Australia’s culinary brilliance and I thought it only fair to share some of these. This post isn’t about a great review into each because lets be honest, it is all fabulous…

My second #followthefoodie restaurant experience with Gourmet It Up  was at Hakkasan in Bandra, Mumbai. This isn’t my first tryst with this Chinese restaurant and I’ve even blogged about it a couple of times here and here. Hakkasan has never really disappointed me with their food so I was eagerly awaiting this meal. The restaurant is massive. They set the tone for the restaurant right from the elevator, because once you step in, there is this odd electric blue lighting which you soon realize is a running theme at the restaurant. Hakkasan is split in two sections. One is the…

The food industry has suddenly become an increasingly popular industry to get into. Everyone wants to open a restaurant or a the next hip new pub, or then they dabble with catering services or food pop ups and exhibitions. Someone is making cookies and jams from home and others selling organic products. There is a lot going in this space and out of all the various innovative startups I find Gourmet It Up to be the most interesting. While I appreciate good food and I am willing to pay the price for it on occasion, I do also strongly believe in…

For those of you that grew up in Mumbai, specially South Mumbai, you will have to agree that Golden Dragon at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel was in some way, a part of your childhood, much like most of the hotel was. This 41 year old restaurant is not only an integral part of the hotel but such an iconic restaurant that has stood tall and proud in a city where restaurants open and shut in the blink of an eye.  For me the Golden Dragon was the epitome of food indulgence as a child. I would pass the restaurant every…

A lot of my dinner dates include a group of 8 -10 boisterous forever hungry parsis who enjoy nothing more than eating drinking and making merry. Since this particular lot are such regular diners and marvelous restaurant enthusiasts, choosing different venues that everyone agrees upon can become a herculean task! This week we wanted to try someplace where no one has been to yet and zeroed in on the latest the Intercontinental Hotel has to offer – The Long And Short Bar. I forgot to actually ask them why they named it that but truth be told I don’t really…

I’ve spent a LOT of time this past year sampling new places and frequenting old favourites. I find most often it’s very difficult to find a restaurant that will give you a stellar meal.  There are always hits and misses in every meal but I’ve come to realize that some dishes are quite memorable and it’s only fair I share my culinary treasures with you. So this is dedicate to my top finds of 2013. I’d like to stress here that these are just some of the dishes I personally find memorable or note worthy, my list includes much more…

This Pune trip like most usually turn out to be, was wonderfully hectic. With a cheese festival, judging contests and interviewing some lovely people for work, I managed to squeeze in a lazy lunch. After a while I enjoyed a nice lazy lunch with lovely company and tasty food. Soy is a restaurant I hadn’t heard of before but seems to be quite popular. Located on Bund Garden Road this restaurant with friendly staff and red themed decor seems like a relaxed place to dine. My lung fung soup filled with prawn was lovely but the real surprise was the…

If you know me well you know I’m extremely partial to Asian flavours and that I have a massive weak spot for Chinese food. Most dinner invitations I tend to politely turn down but an invite to an Oriental meal is my Achilles heel. I will NEVER say no. In fact I will make time just so I can be present for that meal. I have my own personal favourite restaurants where I usually frequent when I need my Chi fix but it’s always interesting to experiment with different restaurants to see what they do and how differently or similarly…

If there is a restaurant that I have yet to experience but almost everyone I know has heaped praises on it, it is Ming Yang at The Taj Lands End Bandra. Ming Yang is considered one of the top notch Chinese restaurants in the city and it’s a pity I have never had the pleasure of dining here. A lunch here recently, sampling their exclusive ‘Dragon Boat Festival Menu’ changed all that. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in China, Hong Kong and now  in other parts of the world where a massive dragon boat is taken out and while rowing along…
