People often ask me which are my favourite food destinations and always seem surprised when I say Australia. The country has plenty to offer but it is their exceptional flavours, creativity on a plate and abundance of great produce that makes it a favourite. Truth be told, this is the home for the popular TV show Masterchef Australia that has honestly changed the way India eats and appreciates food. The last time I was in Australia was a whirlwind trip to Sydney but this time around I managed to get a real sense of what Queensland has to offer. I…

Mumbai is no stranger to new restaurants opening almost every second day and the kind of work I do, my inbox is always flooded with invites to review places to a polite ‘ please feel free to drop by ‘ message. While I understand it is their job to ensure that I know about these place, I have become ridiculously selective with the places I visit and the things I write about specially on the blog. Which is why there is a restaurant review after eons. The are two reasons I chose to accept said invitation and then later felt…

My trysts with Bangalore city are both swift and scarce. For some reason I never seem to spend enough time there and all my visits are fleeting at best. My recent trip was no different except that I was there for 3 meals and each one was memorable. This city really knows how to eat well. I know all the main hotspots or at least I’ve heard about them all and to the best of my knowledge they’re packed in places like Indiranagar or Koramangala but this time I went further North and an excellent culinary experience. I haven’t posted…

I consider my self fortunate and all sorts of lucky that my blog and work has me visiting gorgeous places, eating exquisite meals and hob nobbing with some very cool folks. I’m always meeting chefs but when I get to meet a celebrity chef not once but twice, I find that I must have done something right. A few months ago I wrote about a very special meal at Ziya at The Oberoi Hotel with chef Vineet Bhatia and at the time I had no idea I’d ever meet him again. As luck would have it, I was invited to sample…

One of the most exciting meals when I travel is breakfast. When I’m at home it’s nothing fancy maybe the odd egg or toast but when I travel is when I really indulge and do justice to a breakfast buffet. I was recently asked to meet someone over a breakfast meeting and while it sounded very tempting, the reality of waking up and getting ready so I could reach on time was far from delightful. To make matters worse my meeting was scheduled at the other end of where I live, temptingly close to the international airport ! If you…

In my opinion, one of the best weekend getaways from Mumbai is to it’s younger sibling Pune. The city is wonderful and has much to offer despite turning into a mini Mumbai. I have friends there so it’s always fun to visit but even if I didn’t, I’d still go because there is enough to keep me occupied. This month was full of long weekends and my sister and I finally ( with grave difficulty ) managed to plan a weekend away together, something we haven’t done in a while. I was generously given a gift certificate which was basically…

I haven’t been to Pune in ages and this weekend was a breath of fresh air. I popped into the city for a quick weekend getaway with my sister and for the most part lounged around in our gorgeous hotel the Hyatt Regency Pune. You can’t blame us, it’s ferociously hot outside with the temperature crawling up to 40 degrees so besides a very successful shopping trip and the mall next door, we pretty much ate at the hotel and stayed indoors like little princesses. Since I hadn’t been to Pune in ages, a city I’m extremely familiar with and…

If there is one cuisine that really excites me it has got to be Peruvian food. I can’t say it’s my favourite because that would imply I eat it regularly which sadly I don’t as I have no access to it unless I’m travelling. It’s been one of the hottest cuisines globally for a couple of years now and I’m intrigued by it. I’ve had superb meals in London which really was my first taste and then at the gorgeous Park Hyatt Hotel in Goa as they launched their Ceviche Menu which btw is spectacular. So again I can’t say…

It isn’t everyday that you eat a five course meal specially in Mumbai but when you get the opportunity to do so, it’s one you should cherish. There is a lot of mediocre food in the city and a lot of good food as well. What’s rare is a stellar meal and thanks to superstar chef Vineet Bhatia, you can enjoy a great one at his restaurant Ziya at The Oberoi Hotel at Nariman Point. A meal here is an experience as all meals should be and with simple classy decor and the dramatic backdrop of the Arabian Sea, Ziya…

Delhi is a fascinating city. Much like Johannesburg it gets its fair share of bad press and the first thing you think about is safety but if you look beyond there is so much to explore. I grew up in Mumbai and have no family in Delhi which means I never visited as a child ( except for the occasional school trip ). For me, Delhi is an adventure and again a couple of days in the capital isn’t enough to really understand the city. It’s also one of those cities that is completely blessed when it comes to food.…
