I love Chinese food. Simple a simple stir fry or a pot of noodles makes me incredibly happy. I couldn’t care less if there was meat in it or just veggies, I enjoy it either way and I’ve realised it’s actually extremely easy to cook this type of food. My wok is my favourite utensil and I end up making everything in it. I’ve made Chinese noodles many times but I find a lot of times the noodles stick, are too soft or aren’t seasoned right. Sometimes I feel it might even be too many ingredients at one time so…

My second #followthefoodie restaurant experience with Gourmet It Up  was at Hakkasan in Bandra, Mumbai. This isn’t my first tryst with this Chinese restaurant and I’ve even blogged about it a couple of times here and here. Hakkasan has never really disappointed me with their food so I was eagerly awaiting this meal. The restaurant is massive. They set the tone for the restaurant right from the elevator, because once you step in, there is this odd electric blue lighting which you soon realize is a running theme at the restaurant. Hakkasan is split in two sections. One is the…

The food industry has suddenly become an increasingly popular industry to get into. Everyone wants to open a restaurant or a the next hip new pub, or then they dabble with catering services or food pop ups and exhibitions. Someone is making cookies and jams from home and others selling organic products. There is a lot going in this space and out of all the various innovative startups I find Gourmet It Up to be the most interesting. While I appreciate good food and I am willing to pay the price for it on occasion, I do also strongly believe in…

There is nothing more exciting than a birthday celebration for this tiny taster. In our house it’s not just our birthday but also our birthday according to the Parsi Calendar ( roj bday) we take very seriously. I love it because as a child there is nothing cooler than having two birthday celebrations and all your friends thinking it’s weird but secretly being jealous.   It was Dad’s roj birthday yesterday and since it was just him and me we decided to celebrate and ended up having a spectacular meal at the delicious San Qi at the Four Seasons Hotel…

This is a whole new year and a whole new me. I’ve really surprised myself. We’re 3 weeks into the new year and I find myself doing things I wouldn’t have given a second thought before. My diet and quest for good health is in full bloom, I’ve taken up kickboxing which is shocking because I actually abhor any form of exercise and now I’m willingly paying someone to come home and kick my ass into shape. I find myself generally happier and much calmer than usual and while this is all refreshing the most shocking change so far has…

I find myself dining at many restaurants and coming back slightly underwhelmed or in some cases gravely disappointed. When I hear good things about a restaurant despite my best efforts not to, I tend to  have expectations and most of the time they are never met. I find myself realizing that we tend to over hype things. Word of mouth, newspaper and online reviews, Blogs and chatter amongst blogger ( I include myself in this list) are all to blame for over hyping places. Most mediocre restaurants are touted as great spots and in many cases their exorbitant prices are…

What I love most about food is that it brings people together. Some of my best nights out are usually dinners I’ve had with the people I love. And when the people I love decide to dine at my all time favourite Chinese restaurant its even better!! Saturday night and four of us decide to head to Lings Pavilion at Colaba for dinner before we head out later and I couldn’t be more pleased.  Lings according to me, is one of the best places in town for GOOD Chinese food and tonight once again I was not disappointed. We started…
