It takes a LOT to impress me. I’m the sort of person that appreciates everything but I have extraordinarily high standards for myself and the things that I enjoy. For anything to be memorable it must be brilliant and different. I think the key word is different and specially when it comes to food, I’m perpetually hunting for this ” brilliantly different”. A chance meeting at an event with old school friends led to a superbly entertaining not to mention delicious dinner, and it is at this very dinner that I found my brilliantly different. My first wow meal of…

If you’ve been following the blog regularly you know I’ve been on a #FollowTheFoodie trail with +GourmetItUp Concierge  trying their menu at various restaurants. I started the series with an outstanding meal at Oh:Cha followed by a delightful Chinese meal at Hakkasan  and while I thought the third experience would be Asian perhaps Japanese or even Indian I was pleasantly surprised. Aqaba, which is a restaurant named after a coastal city in Jordan, was my third and final food destination and as the name suggests, the cuisine is Middle Eastern. The restaurant is quite large and has a lovely garden area where you…

The food industry has suddenly become an increasingly popular industry to get into. Everyone wants to open a restaurant or a the next hip new pub, or then they dabble with catering services or food pop ups and exhibitions. Someone is making cookies and jams from home and others selling organic products. There is a lot going in this space and out of all the various innovative startups I find Gourmet It Up to be the most interesting. While I appreciate good food and I am willing to pay the price for it on occasion, I do also strongly believe in…

I had spent more than two weeks travelling all over Portugal on my food tour and was now relaxing in Lisbon. I decided to extend my stay and ended up doing another 5 nights in Lisbon by myself. I think this is possibly the best decision I made because the time I spent on my own, eating, exploring and discovering is something I will treasure more than anything else. The main agenda for my time in Lisbon was to just see things at my own pace and eat at some great restaurants. Of course I furiously googled and read various…

This post is all about discovering some delicious food without breaking the bank. Let’s be honest, the food industry is single handedly taking all my money,( well them and the taxis of Mumbai ) and it gets really hard to fine relatively affordable eating options. I’m not talking about stuff I can eat in under Rs 500 ( though I’m going to get there very soon ), but a meal that justifies the money you pay for it and leaves you satisfied. Here’s a quick round up of my recent food discoveries! Le Beriyan – I read this name and…

As a food enthusiast and a perennial diner I come across many restaurants and several dishes. Some are old favourites and some new. I find that it’s sometimes difficult to write a review because most places are very inconsistent. Some dishes are rave worthy and most fall flat on their face. I have to balance it out and make sure that I write a fair review. Along the way I’ve made a list of some dishes which have made such an impression that I’m happy to go back and eat it again and again till I’m sick in the stomach.…

I’ve eaten many meals at The Tasting Room in Lower Parel Mumbai but this meal is special. This isn’t a meal it’s a catching up lunch, with one of my oldest, dearest friends who is as excited about food as I am, actually much more than I am. He’s currently studying molecular gastronomy in New York but since he’s back we decided to catch up and bond over our mutual love for all things tasty. We’re later joined by another old pal and as we usually do our meal went on for a good three hours reminiscing and laughing and…

I’m in Pune for a couple of days and as usual I’m in a flurry because I have loads of things to do and always feel there’s very little time. I managed to squeeze in a quick lunch, to a place I haven’t been to before. Actually I have been to Terttulia about 4 years ago but  I didn’t eat anything and barely remember the place. Of course in the last four years it’s grown by leaps and bounds. Not only have they moved to a bigger location (they have an indoor ac section and a charming open air section)…

Pune is a wonderful city. I have the fondest memories of vacationing here as a child with my family and their friends during my school days. I remember a time when the city was silent and slept through the afternoon. A time when burgers from the ever popular ‘Jaws’ was such a treat , when you patiently sat on a tree stump of a stool and waited while daddy paid for your larger than life burger. The jostling at Kayani Bakery, because no trip to Pune is a complete trip without bringing back some delicacies from the land of biscuits!…
