There was a time when driving for a couple of hours or road trips were exciting but I find them losing their appeal. Maybe it’s a sign that I’m not as patient as I once use to be. After a rather turbulent flight in a plane far smaller than usual, a 3 hour drive to my hotel seemed more stressful than ever. Thankfully I had lovely company and the light at the end of this supposedly long tunnel was the gorgeous jungle of Bandhavgarh. For someone who is the truest definition of a city slicker, I’m amazed at my deep…

Travelers often categorize themselves as either a beach person or a mountain person. While both hold a great appeal, I’d call myself a jungle person. Going on safari in any part of the world gives me more pleasure than frolicking on any beach or waking up to any spectacular mountainous views. My first trip to the jungle in Madhya Pradesh made such an impact that it ended up being my favourite type of travel. The biggest advantage is that India has so many different national parks, each gorgeous in its own way and full of some incredible wildlife. It is…

When I was in school, one of my closest friends went on a family vacation to Kenya. This was an easy 18 years ago when it was fairly unheard of that anyone in Mumbai went to Africa for a holiday instead of the usual suspects. I remember her coming back from her travels and saying ” Roxy believe me when they say it’s God’s country, they really mean it ” . Since that conversation in my mind, I had painted the most pristine and beautiful image of the country. Years later when I found myself in the heart of the…

I’ve said it a million times and I’ll keep saying it – there is nothing like being on a safari. I’ve been lucky enough to experience the wild in Africa as well as in our own back yard in Central and North India and every single time, it is just as special as the last one. My recent jungle adventure was in Madhya Pradesh which is starting to become one of my favourite states in India. About a 4 hour drive from Bhopal airport and I found myself in Satpura at a very pretty place called the Forsyth Lodge. I’ve…

I tend to fall in love with almost every place I visit and always yearn to go back. Cities have their own vibe but if I’m being completely honest, one of my happiest places in the world is when I’m sitting on the last bench in an open jeep in the middle of a jungle eagerly waiting to come across any, many and every jungle creature. If you were to ask me what kind of holiday you should take, I will always advocate a safari vacation and preferably one in the heart of Madhya Pradesh in India. India has plenty…

When people ask me about bucket lists and my top places to visit I find it strange. The world is vast with so many different places to explore and cultures to understand, not to mention so many different types of food to eat how is one suppose to just pick a bunch of favourites? More than anything there are always different types of experiences to be had and one of the very best kind of experiences is a safari in a jungle. A very special person took me on my very first safari way back in 2010 and it has…

I never thought I would be, but I think it’s safe to say I’ve turned into a complete safari girl. I will almost never say no to a holiday that includes staying in the jungle and waking up at odd hours or spending time in an open air jeep freezing despite layers of clothing, hoping to spot animals in the wild. This year has been great with a visit to two reserves in Madhya Pradesh and a sudden trip to South Africa. I had the time of my life in both Kanha and Pench hunting for tigers, one which was wonderfully successful…

One of the best things in life is your family. When you get to experience something breathtaking and stunning with the people you love it becomes an even better experience. Thanks to my adorable aunt, four crazy women made their way to the jungles of Madhya Pradesh and enjoyed seven days of pure bliss. Starting with a mildly traumatic take off, beautiful tiger sightings, joy rides in the jungle, a wild jungle beast ( ok maybe not ) entering my room, and ending with a hilarious episode with airport security this all girls trip was fantastic. As they say, what…
