Despite multiple trips to my favourite Singapore, I had never heard of Haw Par Villa. What was once owned by two Burmese brothers who I’m told were the inventors of Tiger Balm is now a bizarre theme park that attracts curious tourists. There use to be a huge mansion but what remains is just the gardens. These gardens are full of various statues from Chinese mythology and oddly enough even a very random Statue Of Liberty. The park is of course quite old and not exactly maintained like other attractions in Singapore making it seem old and outdated but I…

I find most restaurants that serve Chinese food with a smattering of Thai or Malaysian based dishes describe themselves as ‘ Pan Asian’ restaurants. Most of the time it’s just Indianised Chinese fare that we are comfortable with but to really understand what sort of cuisines are included in this ‘ Pan Asian’ list, one needs to have a broad mind and a slightly adventurous palate. There is a certain thrill and excitement in discovering new food that only a curious eater will understand. Travelling always helps but the readiness to embark on a culinary adventure isn’t what every so…

People always ask me which is my favourite place to visit and I’m always stumped because really, how can you choose just one single destination. I will say that Singapore features quite high on my list of top places I enjoy visiting and to be honest it has everything to do with the Singaporean culinary scene. It’s a city that is constantly eating and eats well! There is an abundant variety of dishes and cuisines and you can find almost every single type of food here. I always tend to gravitate towards local dishes best found in hawker centers so…

Most folks are either terrified of flying or dread flights because they take them often for work trips. For me, both scenarios seem extremely odd because for this curious traveler, every single flight is an adventure. Not always are my adventures pleasant, I end up with inconsiderate people, invariably a screeching baby or a indisciplined child that kicks my seat throughout the flight. I’ve had drunks behind me fight with the cabin crew and have even had really noisy loud families talk to each other in such high decibel levels that I can hear their entire conversation though my head…

A trip to Singapore is always full of fun frolic shopping and great food. Plenty of tourist attractions and enough to occupy you. I find this small but incredibly evolving country fascinating. With four official languages ( English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil ) and is own history and heritage, Singapore has come a long way from being a tiny little speck on the map. I’ve been to Singapore a fair number of times so I’m always looking for something new. Despite visiting a couple of time earlier, it is only on a recent trip where I learnt about the original…

People always ask me my favourite spots to visit and are often taken aback when I say Singapore is one of them. I think most expect me to say London or Paris but I have a very special fondness for this Asian city. Singapore has museums, fun attractions( they seem to constantly invent more ), great local transport, incredible food and such diversity of cuisines and endless shopping. It’s a terrific holiday spot and I couldn’t recommend it enough. So when the city decides to make it easier and more accessible to  holiday there, it’s definitely worth talking about. I…

My blog is an extension of me. What I like, what I don’t, where I travel, what I eat, where I stay and what I think you should experience. I write about food and travel and within that section I end up reviewing cities, restaurants, activities and even hotels. What I have never done and I feel I should now, is an airline review. Surprisingly I have never written about my flight experience. Mostly because I’m too tired to bother. At one point I thought it’s all the same in economy or cattle class as I like to call it.…

I absolutely love Singapore! It’s a small city and I’ve been to all the tourist traps but I can’t help but want to revist again and again. I’ve written about my time at Chinatown here but this time I thought I’d pick a few things about the city I’ve really enjoyed. While there are many great things about Singapore, these are just a few of my favourites. Here’s hoping I revisit again soon! The Food – I seriously think eating might be Singapore’s unofficial national sport. It is incredible how at any time of the day, be it 9am or 3am I see…

Every year I like to hit rewind and pick out some of my favourite dishes of the year. They’re in no particular order and most of the time are the oddest choices. I enjoy doing it and it’s a great way to wrap up the year. This year however, I felt a bit underwhelmed by everything. I made a conscious choice to not eat out or talk about things unless I felt they were delicious. I wanted to avoid anything mediocre ( my version of average though someone else might love or hate it ) and focus on the WOW…

The one place in Singapore I absolutely loved was Chinatown. Truth be told I’d be comfortable in a Chinatown in any city. I’m already involved in a mad passionate love affair with their food, but I’m starting to fall in love with all things Chinese. I spent half a day walking through china town trying to take in everything and feverishly clicking away on my new camera.       I managed to visit a Chinese temple which is beautifully colourful and even as I try to compare it with a Hindu temple or a parsi fire temple, it’s just…
