Thailand is one country I just do not get tired of visiting. There is plenty to explore and enough to ensure that you have the time of  your life. Bangkok is a great stop for cultural exploring and shopping but for a more relaxed stay and some fun in the sun I prefer to hit any of the many islands in the country. Koh Samui is the third largest and has a reputation for being exclusive to honeymooners. I must admit it is an absolute dream for the loverbirds and after all the wedding madness, an ideal spot for some…

I love food, it’s what fuels me ( I don’t just mean it in the literal sense but yes that too ). While it all started with an enthusiastic stomach and curious palate, over the last 2 years I’ve taken to the kitchen and really am enjoying the entire process of buying my produce, cooking it and trying to figure out how to improve or innovate. I’ve learnt to appreciate vegetables more believe it or not, 70% ( maybe more ) of the food I cook is vegetarian. I enjoy it but it stems out of sheer laziness because I can’t…

If there was one country I’ve visited  frequently and enjoy immensely it would be Thailand. I find everything the Kingdom of Thailand has to offer either new and exciting or then comfortingly familiar. While the culture, the people and the food seem so different from what I’m use to in India, I do find a lot of similarity and familiarity with their customs and traditions. While I am now quite familiar with Thai customs and traditions, I have never really experienced any typical Thai festival. My most recent trip to Bangkok was made extra special because I managed to visit…

This is a country I find I enjoy more with every visit. While I’ve visited before, just this year alone I was in Thailand on three different occasions. From Bangkok, Krabi, Koh Samui to Chiang Mai I saw my fare share of Thailand this year. On a few of these trips there seemed to be one topic of conversation that kept recurring about how most people percieve Thailand to be some sort of hedonistic play ground for the sexually excited or depraved and that how most people only visit for their ‘ ping pong’ shows and young female companions or…

It’s been ages since I posted a recipe on the blog. Partly because I’ve been busy travelling and not had the time to document my kitchen trials. Don’t be fooled, while I haven’t shared recipes that doesn’t mean I haven’t spent a fair amount of time in the kitchen desperately trying to recreate flavours I encountered on my trips. My most recent trip took me to Thailand where I spent time in Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and Bangkok. All through this 2 week long Thai adventure the one thing I ate repeatedly was their Thai style Basil Chicken and Rice.…

There are some countries that are just blessed with beautiful cuisines. If you visit Italy you are constantly mesmerised with every meal. You visit Singapore and you can dine on a stool on the road and eat from a cart and it will evoke feelings you didn’t even know you could feel. You can dine in any corner of India and experience flavours and textures that will make you want to leap across the table and kiss the cook. Some countries are what I like to call Culinary Blessed and one such is without a doubt – Amazing Thailand. Thai…

I know that a lot of people don’t think much of Thailand as a holiday option but personally, I think it’s one of the best. It works for so many reasons and once you get out and explore, you’ll fall in love with every aspect of the country and will want to go back again, and again.  I last visited Thailand six years ago when I went to Bangkok and Phuket. Like every over enthusiastic traveler I got completely engrossed in all the shopping Bangkok had to offer me and noticed little else. It was when I reached Phuket that…

The food industry has suddenly become an increasingly popular industry to get into. Everyone wants to open a restaurant or a the next hip new pub, or then they dabble with catering services or food pop ups and exhibitions. Someone is making cookies and jams from home and others selling organic products. There is a lot going in this space and out of all the various innovative startups I find Gourmet It Up to be the most interesting. While I appreciate good food and I am willing to pay the price for it on occasion, I do also strongly believe in…

This is a whole new year and a whole new me. I’ve really surprised myself. We’re 3 weeks into the new year and I find myself doing things I wouldn’t have given a second thought before. My diet and quest for good health is in full bloom, I’ve taken up kickboxing which is shocking because I actually abhor any form of exercise and now I’m willingly paying someone to come home and kick my ass into shape. I find myself generally happier and much calmer than usual and while this is all refreshing the most shocking change so far has…

Pune is a wonderful city. I have the fondest memories of vacationing here as a child with my family and their friends during my school days. I remember a time when the city was silent and slept through the afternoon. A time when burgers from the ever popular ‘Jaws’ was such a treat , when you patiently sat on a tree stump of a stool and waited while daddy paid for your larger than life burger. The jostling at Kayani Bakery, because no trip to Pune is a complete trip without bringing back some delicacies from the land of biscuits!…
