Most of the time I’m operating at full speed. There are days when I can’t remember what I did the night before and I’m constantly bouncing about the place working on a theme or project or frantically trying to meet all my writing deadlines. It might sound strange but nothing relaxes me more than experimenting in the kitchen and while the entire month of February was insanely hectic, this week I decided to unwind a wee bit and get back to pottering about in the kitchen and creating some new recipes. I source a lot from Pinterest and I double check…

I love Chinese food. Simple a simple stir fry or a pot of noodles makes me incredibly happy. I couldn’t care less if there was meat in it or just veggies, I enjoy it either way and I’ve realised it’s actually extremely easy to cook this type of food. My wok is my favourite utensil and I end up making everything in it. I’ve made Chinese noodles many times but I find a lot of times the noodles stick, are too soft or aren’t seasoned right. Sometimes I feel it might even be too many ingredients at one time so…

It takes a LOT to impress me. I’m the sort of person that appreciates everything but I have extraordinarily high standards for myself and the things that I enjoy. For anything to be memorable it must be brilliant and different. I think the key word is different and specially when it comes to food, I’m perpetually hunting for this ” brilliantly different”. A chance meeting at an event with old school friends led to a superbly entertaining not to mention delicious dinner, and it is at this very dinner that I found my brilliantly different. My first wow meal of…

Happy New Year my lovelies ! I’m as optimistic about the new year as I am each year even though it’s never smooth sailing. I don’t really believe in resolutions because I think their pointless and don’t stick to them. I do however believe in promises and one of the many I made to myself this year is to really take my health seriously. So in my quest to eat healthy, I have to cook everyday because I’ve eliminated carbs and sugar from my diet ( no pasta noodles pizza dessert sweet etc etc ) and believe me it’s no…

As a food enthusiast and a perennial diner I come across many restaurants and several dishes. Some are old favourites and some new. I find that it’s sometimes difficult to write a review because most places are very inconsistent. Some dishes are rave worthy and most fall flat on their face. I have to balance it out and make sure that I write a fair review. Along the way I’ve made a list of some dishes which have made such an impression that I’m happy to go back and eat it again and again till I’m sick in the stomach.…

I’ve eaten many meals at The Tasting Room in Lower Parel Mumbai but this meal is special. This isn’t a meal it’s a catching up lunch, with one of my oldest, dearest friends who is as excited about food as I am, actually much more than I am. He’s currently studying molecular gastronomy in New York but since he’s back we decided to catch up and bond over our mutual love for all things tasty. We’re later joined by another old pal and as we usually do our meal went on for a good three hours reminiscing and laughing and…

I’m in Pune for a couple of days and as usual I’m in a flurry because I have loads of things to do and always feel there’s very little time. I managed to squeeze in a quick lunch, to a place I haven’t been to before. Actually I have been to Terttulia about 4 years ago but  I didn’t eat anything and barely remember the place. Of course in the last four years it’s grown by leaps and bounds. Not only have they moved to a bigger location (they have an indoor ac section and a charming open air section)…

This was a small article I had written for a community paper called Parsi Times. It was world egg day when I wrote this ( 12th October).Thought I’d share it on the blog. Here goes 🙂Who came first- the chicken or the egg? For most Parsi folks it’s definitely the egg. High in its nutrient values but even higher in taste value, the egg is extremely important to the Parsi community.  Used in most rituals the egg is a big part of our culture. Its prominent in certain wedding and pre wedding rituals and I’m not talking about its prominance…
