I feel there is so much happening in Mumbai that doesn’t always warrant a long detailed blogpost but definitely worth mentioning. I find myself being invited to various events ( mostly food based ) across the city and I thought to make it easier I’d share a round up of my top picks. Things that I personally think are worth it or that I have enjoyed and want to share. I may or may not do this regularly but if you want to know more and you’d like me to do this more often, just leave a comment below and…

It’s been ages since I wrote a restaurant review and there are many reasons for that. Mostly I’ve been travelling and there are far more exciting stories and reviews about those travels to post than just another Pizza/Pasta/Burger joint. To be fair, there are plenty of restaurants that have opened shop recently but haven’t personally impressed me enough to actually take the time to sit and write about them. That changed tonight. I spent my Saturday night at a new place in town called Doppio Bar & Brasserie. In an age where PR companies hold several events and tastings, every…

2015 really was a remarkable year for me. I had the pleasure of travelling to many different countries, cities and towns and trying out all sorts of delicious things. Nothing makes me happier than travelling and good food. Those that know me well know I enjoy cooking but am terrified to actually feed people and that no trip anywhere is complete unless I’ve packed food ingredients in my bag to bring home. I’ve brought woks ( three actually ), knives, shitake mushroom, cheese, ridiculous amounts of cheese and pork sausages ( no beef sadly since it is banned in the…

I know that a lot of people don’t think much of Thailand as a holiday option but personally, I think it’s one of the best. It works for so many reasons and once you get out and explore, you’ll fall in love with every aspect of the country and will want to go back again, and again.  I last visited Thailand six years ago when I went to Bangkok and Phuket. Like every over enthusiastic traveler I got completely engrossed in all the shopping Bangkok had to offer me and noticed little else. It was when I reached Phuket that…

The summer is always an unbearable time of the year. With temperatures soaring and you are feel like you are in a constant pool of sweat it’s really no fun. Restaurants come out with cliched offers to ‘ beat the heat ‘ with weird looking refreshments and there is nothing exciting about the heat. That is of course till you realise that it’s also Mango Season! I want to say I’m in love with Mangoes but that is not entirely true. It is only the king of mangoes – the Alfonso that is really my true love. I don’t care…

A phone call at an unearthly hour breaking your sleep is unacceptable! But, when that phone call tells you that you’ve been booked for restaurant week at 2 fabulous restaurants in the city- all is forgiven. For a lot of you who are not familiar with the concept, restaurant week is an excellent initiative that helps you expand your dining experiences. It’s a weeklong celebration which allows diners to experience some of the finest restaurants through a pre fixed menu at a pre decided cost. In this case it’s Rs 1000 plus taxes. For years I’ve heard tales about the…

I don’t know how accurate any of these exotic stories are or where the origins of pasta really come from but my introduction to pasta I’m sad to report was not like the explorer Marco Polo, who was introduced to pasta during his travels to China, and brought it back with him to Italy in 1292.  Or through the ancient Greeks who ate a version of lasagne or during the Middle Ages when pasta was eaten by Arabs who ruled Sicily. My introduction to pasta was through an unassuming vegetarian fast food joint when I was in school! It’s not…

After reading many reviews and listening to people rave about the recently opened Cafe at the NCPA(National Centre for Performing Arts), I’ve been eagerly waiting to go and I’m thrilled that tonight’s the night! Since some of the group was going to be delayed and Cafe NCPA does not take any reservations, 3 of us decide to get their early and grab a table. We’re asked to wait as it’s already full and a table for 7 would take a while. We don’t mind and seat ourselves at a corner table to patiently wait and soak in (what I realise towards…

To everyone else Feb. 14th is Valentine’s day but to the tiny taster its daddy’s birthday and  the birthday boy tonight’s dinner was at Mocambo, Fort. I’ve always liked Mocambo. its one of the few places left which serves your good food at a decent price.  We started with one of my all time favourites ,bacon and mushroom soup.  I love this rich creamy soup  full of bacon. I know for a fact this is a good soup because many people I know who usually never have soup lap this one up.  I always look forward to it but tonight…
